After Navy Rescue Of Sailors Adrift At Sea, The Story Gets Stranger

Jennifer Appel (left) and Tasha Fuiava are interviewed aboard the USS Ashland in the South Pacific on Oct. 25. They were rescued after reportedly drifting for months while trying to sail from Hawaii to Tahiti.

Two sailors who said they drifted thousands of miles off course were picked up in the Pacific last week by the U.S. Navy. But it turns out the women had an emergency beacon they never turned on.
