Erica Garner died Saturday after suffering brain damage following a heart attack. She is seen here in 2014, leading a protest march in New York City after a grand jury decided not to indict a police officer involved in the chokehold death of her father Eric Garner.

She became a prominent figure calling for an end to police brutality after New York City officers put her father in a fatal chokehold. She suffered brain damage following a heart attack.
